Sometimes you may find yourself in a situation that will require faith and trust . ... you may be in that situation with others and you may have to decide to go along with the crowd. ... or maybe. ... just maybe. .. you find you have to go it alone. ..
In the book of Matthews chapter fourteen, verse twenty-four. .. the disciples find themselves in the midst of a storm at sea. .. and the boat they are in is being tossed violently by the waves. ..And it was at this moment they see something that makes them become fearful. .. Matthew 14: 25-26 . .. And in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went unto them. ... walking on the water. .. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were afraid saying. .. it is a spirit and they cried out in fear. ..
They are all in the same boat. .. fearful. .. because of what they see. .. and Jesus seeing that they were afraid says in verse 27. .. "Be of good cheer; it is I, be not afraid. .. Just hearing those words should have been enough to calm the disciples down. ... Now all the disciples could hear Jesus. ...
But only one responded. .. Peter. ..and he responded in verse 28 by saying " Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. .. Now this exchange is very powerful and here is why. .. First, they all heard Jesus. .. but only Peter responded. .. John 10:27 states. .. "My sheep hear my voice and I know them, and they follow me". .. Jesus knew that all He had to do was respond to Peter and Peter would move according to His words. ...
All Jesus said to Peter in verse twenty-nine was one word. ... Come. ... and Peter stepped out of the boat and walked on water. .. Peter got out the boat. ... there were eleven other people in that boat. .. but only Peter responded to Jesus and. ... got out of the boat. ..
But when Peter was walking toward Jesus. .. he took his eyes off Him and saw the wind being boisterous. ... and he was afraid. .. and began to sink and cried out "Lord save me". .. and immediately Jesus stretched forth His hand and caught him and said unto him " O thou of little faith, why did thou doubt?
But even so. .. Peter got out the boat. .. Are you willing to get out the boat. .. does your faith in God get you out the boat. ... what are you doing in Christ that will get you out the boat. .. That is the question you have to ask yourself. ... there were twelve people in that boat. ... but only one got out. .. which one are you. ..The answer is revealed in the walk you have with Christ. .. May God bless the readers of His word. ...Amen.
