In the book of Joshua 2 chapter verses 3-6, and 8-11 you can read where the prostitute named Rahab hid the Israelites as they were spying out the promised land. Two points that I would like to bring out in thses scriptures that I hope will bless you. The children of
Israel were crossing the border illegally into Jericho. .. they had no legal papers to do so .. but they did have the Word of God.
(3-6). So the king of Jericho sent to Rahab, saying, bring out the men who have come to you, who have entered your house, for they have come to search out all tohe country. Then the woman took the two men and hid them. So she said, yes the men came out to me, but I did not know where they were from. And it happened as the gate was being shut, when it was dark, that the men went out. Where the men went I do not know; pursue them quickly, for you may overtaken them. But she had brought them up to the roof and hidden them with the stalks of flax, which she had laid in order o the roof. . Why would Rahab do such a thing, why would she deceive her own people?
As you read verses 8-11, I believe you will hear the answer. (8-11). Now before they lay down, she came up to them on the roof, and said to the men: I know that the Lord has given you the land, that the terror of you has fallen on us, and that all the inhabitants of the land are fainthearted because of you. For we have heard how the Lord dried up the Red sea for you when you came out of Egypt, and what you did to the two kings of the Amoritres who were on the other side of the Jordan, Sihon and Og, whom you utterly destroyed. And as soon as we heard these things, our hearts melted; neither did there remain any more courage in anyone because of you, for the Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth beneath.
She had heard about God. When you hear about God, you will be changed. Unless you have the heart of Pharoah, the word of God will change you, and Rahab, unlike Pharoah, heard and received the word of God and showed the men of God favor who inturn showed her and her family favor for yielding to the move of God.
So I ask one simple question to you the reader today. Have you heard the word of God today, and how will that revelation be revealed through you? Has the word of God changed you, or maybe you have the heart of Pharoah and are not willing to receive God's word. How will your actions be a reflection of God's word for the people around you. .. people you may not even know, the poor, the immigrants, the disadvantage ones around you.
What will your border crossing experience look like on the day of judgment? The word of God in Philippians chapter two says. .. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit, but in humility consider others better than yourselves. Each of us should look not only to our own interest, but also the interest and needs of other.. .. if you do, you will be mirroring the same attitude of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. . May you truly hear the word of God today and open the borders of your heart to all those in need. .. Amen.
