Anytime I am reading and blogging about God's word. .. I always pray for His guidance as to what He will have me say if anything at all. .. I can't begin to tell you the number of times I have wanted to write something and God said no. .. Today I was reading in the book of Luke around the fourth chapter and Jesus was preaching in the Synagogue and around verse 33. .. He called out an unclean spirit from this man. .. what was so powerful to me was. .. this unclean spirit spoke to Jesus and said in verse 34 "Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? Art thou come to destroy us?. .. and the most powerful line was next. ..I know thee who thou art; the Holy One of God. ..This unclean spirit knew who Jesus was and in verse 35 Jesus rebuked the spirit and said " Hold thy peace, and come out of him. ..and the unclean spirit came out of him at that moment. .
What makes this passage even more powerful for me is when you read earlier verses in this same chapter and Jesus says. .."The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord". ... He was reading from the book of the prophet Esaias. .. and after he finishes reading this passage aloud. .. he closes the book and sits down. .. and says " This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears". ..and those that heard those words. .. wondered at the gracious words Jesus had spoken. ..and they said. .. "Is not this Joseph's" son?
And thus we have the parallel. .. the people of Nazareth. .. heard words from Joseph's son. .. but the unclean spirit heard the words of the Holy One of God. .. Jesus of Nazareth. .. In this same chapter Jesus in verse 24 would make it very clear and plain when He said "Verily I say unto you, No prophet is accepted in his own country".
What is keeping you from hearing and understanding God's word today. .. we were not born in Nazareth. .. but we say we are followers of Christ. .. we are Christians in Jesus' name and we proclaim the Gospel. ..and yet. ..sometimes we hear and do not understand. ..
Do you hear what God is saying today. .. can you receive and understand what He is saying to You. .. Have the words of that shepherd in your life aligned with God. .. Consider their words. .. consider your thoughts. .. do they really line up with God's word for the true believer. .. ?
Matthew 7: 15- 20 states. .. Beware of false prophets which come to you in sheep clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves. You shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns or figs of thistles? Even so, every good tree brings forth good fruit; but a corrupt tree brings forth evil fruit.
A good tree cannot bring forth evil fruit, neither can a corrupt tree bring forth good fruit. Every tree that brings not good fruit is cut down and cast into the fire. Wherefore by their fruits you shall know them. ..
What you hear and understanding will determine the fruit you will bring forth... examine your fruit. ..hear and understand. .. May God bless the reader to hear and understand. Amen.
